Who is Jesus?
Jesus is the example of who God created us to be!
God created mankind with an identity, a blessing and a future that Adam and Eve forfeited to the serpent in the Garden of Eden (Genesis chapters 1, 2 & 3). When God created man - He created us in His image and in His likeness; He blessed us to be fruitful, to multiply, replenish the earth, subdue it and have dominion over it. And, He told us (Adam & Eve), eat from the Tree of Life (and if so, we would live forever) - but, eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil and you will die. (Genesis 1:26-28; Genesis 2:8-17; Genesis 3:22)
What this means is:
IMAGE: mankind had the nature of God - crowned with His Glory, that connected us to Him
LIKENESS: God breathed the breath of life into mankind, giving us the ability to be like Him.
BLESSING: Built into the blessing was everything we needed for provision, authority and success
POWER: God knew the enemy waiting for mankind and gave us all the power to overcome him
LIFE: The Tree of Life was the gift of eternal life, and the forbidden tree was mankind's first tithe
Then along came the serpent - he deceived Eve and she convinced Adam (who was there with her!) to disobey God's instructions NOT to eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of GOOD and EVIL. This was like eating a poisonous fruit that tainted the blood of mankind with a deadly disease. The life God breathed into Adam and Eve (their/our spirit) DIED. And the consequences of those actions meant they were no longer connected to God, crowned with Glory and receiving all they would ever need from God. And worse off, the enemy warped our self-IMAGE, lied to us about our LIKENESS, destroyed our BLESSING, stole our POWER and dominion for himself, and killed us off from eternal life with God. (John 10:10) But because God loves us SO much, He came to earth as a man, free of sin and full of power - the only man with a blood pure enough to cure mankind of our sin of separation from God, and washing our own blood clean of the taint of eternal death. Jesus came to give us our life back; to cleanse us from sin, to redeem us back to God and anoint us with the power to overcome the enemy once again. He IS who we are meant to be! (1 John 4:17) And all we have to do to receive all God has for us is to pray and BELIEVE: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, should not die, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16) "That if you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. (Romans 10:9) It's easy to speak those verses into a prayer of belief. And, if you prayed that prayer - you ARE saved!
